Pokemon ONE


This game has been dedicated to AppleJuiceSquid since its conception, as it was even for their birthday. As such, I've had a very specific goal of running Pokemon Zero for my group of amazing players. However, aforementioned players prefer crunchier games, coming from Pokemon Tabletop United. I've been wrestling with what I want PM0 to be and what my players want PM0 to be for a long while. I think I've finally come to a decision, though—PM0 is MY game. Pokemon One, on the other hand, is theirs.


Discordantopia fans, do not fret, this will not delay DTopia in the slightest. The development of PM1 is an ongoing process of me procedurally modifying and adding onto PM0 as needed for my group. I can talk about PM1 when it's closer to being a full document, but for now, here's what will change with PM0:

  • Combat will go even more freeform.
  • No more HP.
  • Remove abilities and moves in favor of dynamic capabilities.
  • Rewrite experience and advancement to emphasize dramatic moments.
  • Revise mantras to be more like FATE aspects that can be called upon.
  • Make natures more specific.
  • Remove opposed rolls.

...and probably some other stuff that I don't have the insight right now to tell what else would need to change for what I'm envisioning.

Thanks for reading! Excited to get to writing. I'll probably keep v0.7 up permanently, since v0.8 will be such an overhaul.
